The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and award-winning children’s musician Chris Sanders have teamed up again, this time to release ‘Hana the Glowworm’ a collection of songs and accompanying education packs free to primary schools across New Zealand.

These original songs follow the adventures of Hana, a curious glowworm who is drawn out of her cave by the mellifluous sounds of a faraway orchestra. As we follow Hana on her adventure to find the music, we meet her friends, learn about the instruments of the orchestra can even play and sing along!

“The Hana story is full of fantasy, adventure and drama intertwined with magnificent music! It will be a huge sensory experience for children that will help them learn about different sections of the orchestra.” says Chris Sanders.

This is a large collaboration which incorporates talent from all over Aotearoa, with music written by Chris Sanders and scored by New Zealand based arrangers Adrian Hollay, Linda Dallimore, Anna Reyes and Camryn Nel. Kiwi music icon Rikki Morris is in the music producer seat and breakthrough artist Natalie Conaty has developed the illustrations for the education program and future picture book.

The songs are performed by Emerson D'Aguiar-Sanders (Hana), Kelly Lim Harris (Eel) and Chris Sanders (Stoat). A further 2 songs are set to be released late in 2024 with the show launching at the Auckland Town Hall in March 2025.
